Summer is in full swing! With many people taking time off to unwind and enjoy the beautiful weather I couldn't think of a better time to get serious about relaxing. That's right, get serious about relaxation. I find August to be the time when I commit to unwinding and getting my body and mind to do less. September will be here soon and my mind, body and schedule will be much busier.
At Joint Ventures we have an entire staff who are experts in relaxation. Getting your body to relax activates your autonomic nervous system which is a mechanism of the body that promotes healing in your body. Giving yourself time to rest is one thing, but having someone tend to your aches and pains for 60 or 90 uninterrupted minutes is bliss. When was the last time someone focused their attention on your needs for that period of time? Where else can you escape from your cell phone, children, boss, family and friends and spend some real focused time on yourself? Is this selfish? NO! This is self care class 101. Just like the flight attendants say when you're on the airplane "place the oxygen mask over your face first, you can't help anyone else unless you are breathing". The stresses of modern life are very much the same thing. We offer the "oxygen mask" to you so that you can effectively be there for your loved ones. The benefits of a relaxation massage are often overlooked as non-medical, but recent studies have shown that it decreases blood pressure, fights depression, and strengthens the immune system. On a personal level when I receive my monthly massage, I feel proactive in my health. At a time when health care is on so many people's minds, isn't it critical that we take responsibility for our own healing?
The relaxation experts at Joint Ventures are waiting to cater to your individual needs. We have soothing music, soft tables and highly skilled massage therapists waiting to help you improve your level of health and get your body feeling "tip-top". We look forward to hearing from you today. Think of how good your calendar will look with the note "Wednesday massage 5:30pm" on it. Just having my massage listed on my schedule helps me push through all of the demands at the office. We look forward to helping you.
